Bright Spots

Burnley College, on behalf of the Education and Training Foundation, have led the North West Practice Development hot air balloon made up of colourful spots that are flying away at the topGroup programme. The programme, designed to promote practitioner-led collaborative professional development, saw 22 institutions within the Further Education and Training sector in the North West involved. Focusing on maths and English, participants worked on small scale projects using the action learning set model, to develop an aspect of teaching, learning and assessment to enhance the teaching of English or the embedding of maths/ English into other programmes of study. As a result of the programme and in the spirit of collaboration, the learning from the programme has been incorporated into an electronic resource.

The site includes 3 areas:

1) CPD Resources (videos) from each ALS group on strategies to embed maths/ English or teaching of E

2) CPD Resources on using actions learning sets in your organisation

3) CPD Resources (videos) from the Knowledge Exchange – Using digital tools to develop maths and English
