For those who didn’t get the memo
#FEJolabokaflod is a tradition (I
think I can call it a tradition after 2 years) where FE book lovers across the nation, gift one another with books from a ‘Secret Santa’ to enjoy on Christmas eve. The tradition was inspired by the more well-known Icelandic tradition of Jolabokflod, which roughly translates to Christmas book flood. In the FE version, the books can be about anything, as long as they cost under £10 and are sent anonymously, to add to the fun.
After two successful years of spreading joy with #FEJolabokflod during winter break, as a group we decided that once a year just isn’t enough. For this Valentine’s Day we are taking part in #FELovesBookswap. This time though, the books must be preloved by the owner. So, we invite you to take part by sending a secondhand book (therefore there is no cost but postage) to share your love of reading with another.
If you would like to take part, contact Kayte Haselgrove either via @EduKayte on Twitter or by email at
k.haselgrove@derby.ac.uk. You will need to provide a postage address and you will be assigned your book lover blind date (aka Secret Santa). All books need to be posted by 10/02/23 to arrive on or by 14/02/23.
